The Practice
Lewis & McConnell Optometrist was established in December 2002 as a partnership between Optometrists Peter Lewis and Stewart McConnell. The origins of the practice stem from 1963 when Ivor Lewis began practicing from premises at 310 Stephensons Road . Peter Lewis relocated the business to its present position in 1996 and with plenty of easy parking and visibility within Mount Waverley Village, business has not looked back. With an emphasis on attention to quality, service and expert clinical care, Lewis and McConnell Optometrist is proud of its reputation within the local community and throughout Melbourne.
Peter Lewis Optometrist
Peter has been in practice for 35 years, mostly here in Mount Waverley, working in partnership with his father and now with Stewart McConnell. Peter enjoys a regular game of golf and has a quiet interest in following the Melbourne Football Club. Peter has many clinical interests and enjoys helping his patients obtain their best visual outcome be it with spectacles, contact lenses or advice on eye health and maintenance of good vision. Since 2004 Peter has been a regular visitor to Timor as a volunteer, providing eyecare and helping establish the infrastructure that has allowed the training of East Timorese health workers to provide eye care to their local community.
Stewart McConnell Optometrist
Stewart began working with Peter in 1997 and became a partner in December 2002. Stewart is also a "local" having grown up in Glen Waverley. He played baseball with Waverley and is a passionate follower of the Carlton Football Club and sport in general. He has a keen interest in paediatric vision, which encompasses all aspects of vision development of children. Poor vision or eye muscle imbalance can impact significantly on a childs ability to do well at school. Stewart recommends that all children have their eyes examined by an Optometrist before heading off to Primary school. Stewart also looks after our busy Contact Lens Clinic.
Denise Crozier
Optical Assistant/ Receptionist. Denise has been working at L&M for over 18 years. She has many years of experience in all areas of frame and lens selection, office administration and patient care . Denise is well known to many of our patients and is a strong believer in customer service aiming at all times to go that extra yard to help our patients with the challenges that present.
Anne Lewis
Office Manager/ Optical Assistant. Anne helps keep the business side of things running smoothly as well as providing years of experience with correct frame and lens advice. A nursing background helps Anne with patient care and she enjoys helping with that "hard to find" frame for patients with different needs.
Shaun Hall
Optical Technician/ Dispenser. Shaun has a mountain of experience in the Optical industry having worked in the industry for over 20 years. Shaun has an extensive understanding of lens technologies and keeps up to date with new advances in both frame and lens designs. He is an expert in frame selection and adjustments to help achieve the perfect fit. Shaun teaches and helps our other team members with their product knowledge and more complex challenges.
Debra Foster
Optical Assistant/Reception. Deborah joined Lewis and McConnell early in 2011. She brings with her a wonderful understanding of the industry and in turn a wealth of knowledge about frames and lenses. Her passion revolves around helping patients find that perfect frame - both cosmetically and functionally. If there is a frame that suits you, Debra will find it.
